Mr. Ben White, 89, of Glennonville, Mo., died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Louella Jarrett, 89, of Blytheville, passed from this life Thursday, April 30, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

I went to a visitation yesterday for the mother of one of our Nucor-Yamato Steel employees. She found out two months ago she had pancreatic cancer, and now she's gone to be with our Lord. Cancer is so devastating and unfortunately we've all been hurt by cancer directly or indirectly. Just last year, I lost one of my very best friends, Chuck Wilder, to pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed in February and we buried him last September...

Wanda Stubbs, 76, of Blytheville, passed from this life Wednesday, April 29, 2015.

Wednesday, Don Houseworth, chairman of the Blytheville/Gosnell Regional Airport Authority agreed on behalf of the board to sell Building 556, plus 65 feet by 110 feet of adjacent land on the south side of the building, to Five Star Hydraulics Inc. for $200,000.

Blytheville Public Schools will be hosting its annual preregistrations and Step-up Nights through May. Step-up nights allow parents and future students the opportunity to visit with their child's teacher and or school for the next academic year.

Last Saturday's Community Cleanup, hosted by the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce, is being called a success, with a total of 240 participants, 22 cleanup groups and 30 volunteers.
