Willie Young, born July 26, 1934, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 21, 2013, at the VA hospital in Memphis.

The Rev. William T. Taylor, 86, of Earle, formerly of Memphis, died on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, in Marion.

Pauline Bell Marr, 89, of Blytheville, died Sunday, Dec. 22, at Gosnell Healthcare.

Mrs. Grafter Anna Jacobs, 95, formerly of Osceola, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, in Memphis.

Mamie Lee (Ford) Horton, 80, of Blytheville, passed from this life on Dec. 18, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Sylvester Hodges, 64, of Blytheville, died Monday at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Mrs. Frankie Mae Campbell Doss, 55, of Osceola, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, in Memphis.

Fannie Mae Burks, 62, of Blytheville, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mr. Milton Davis Britton, 57, of Luxora, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013.

The Mississippi County Emergency Squad towed a New Orleans man to safety Friday afternoon after he reported having troubles with the transmission on his boat.

A Gosnell women was killed in a house fire Saturday that took local firefighters more than two hours to douse, leaving the house little more than standing rubble, according to Gosnell Police Chief Darrell Watkins.

The Lights of the Delta has been hit hard this year with a shortened season and a number of closings because of inclement weather. But Executive Director George Hubbard said money isn't the only standard of measurement for success, rather the chance to spread some holiday cheer.
