Ernestine Towell

Ernestine Towell, 70, of Monette, passed from this life Friday, April 5, 2024, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. Born in Paragould to the late Ernest and Mozell Dale Pannells, she was raised in Cardwell, Mo., and was a graduate of Southland High School. She later received a degree in accounting from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Ernestine had worked for many years for the Arkansas Department of Human Services as a social worker. She was a longtime member of Monette Assembly of God and enjoyed staying in touch with all her Cardwell friends by way of social media and the Southland Sisters Facebook page. Ernestine also enjoyed crafting, crochet, yard sales, and traveling with her husband Bennie.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Bennie Towell of Monette; two sons, Ernest Eugene Towell (Claudia) of Southaven, Miss., and James Towell (Brenda) of Pollard; three granddaughters, Kayla Towell, Hannah Towell and Ellie Towell; and one grandson, Ethan Towell. She also leaves three sisters, Lena Wilbur of Leachville, Susan Walker (Tim) of Horseshoe Bend and Sherry Maupin (Mack) of Wilson.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Monette Assembly of God with Rev. Shawn McElhannon and B.R. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Macey Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
