Juanita Brown, 66, of Gosnell, departed this life on Friday, March 22, 2024. Juanita was born in Hermondale, Mo., on March 10, 1958. She was one of six children of the Clarence and Rosie Johnson. Juanita professed a faith in Christ and joined Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was also a longtime member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Receiving her BA degree in Education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Juantia began work at the Head Start Program until her retirement in 2023. During her career, she received numerous awards for her outstanding work. She demonstrated an unmatched dedication and compassion to all of her students. While working at the Head Start Program, she met coworkers who became lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her Papa and Mama, Clarence and Rosie Johnson; her brothers, Jesse Adams Jr. and Willie Johnson; her daughter, Markita Jackson; and her special niece, Roseann Williams.

She leaves to cherish forever in her memory her childhood sweetheart and husband of 47 years, Eddie Brown Jr. of Gosnell; her son, Eddie Brown III (Whitney Houston) of Gosnell; her siblings, Teressa Wells of Blytheville, Ella (Jerry) Hudlin of Edwardsville, Ill., Clarence Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., Inez Johnson Ross of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, from 11 a.m. until noon at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 920 South Lake Street, Blytheville, where Reverend Bobby Patterson is the pastor. Funeral services will be conducted at noon. Reverend Patterson will deliver the eulogy with interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
