Laverne Pauline Thomas

Laverne Pauline Thomas, 83, of Leachville, widow of Thelbert “Shot” Thomas, passed from this life Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her home. Born in Cushman to the late Jim and Elsie Omelia Holloway Cole, she had lived most of her life in the Leachville area. She was a longtime custodian for Buffalo Island Central East Elementary and was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church. Laverne enjoyed working in her flower gardens and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers and a son, Gary Thomas.

Survivors include two sons; Tim Thomas and Norman Thomas, both of Leachville; one daughter, Sheila McFarland of Leachville; one grandson, Kimzey Cagle of Leachville; one granddaughter, Hollie Goodson (Les) of Monette; one great-granddaughter, Hadlie Goodson of Monette; daughter-in-law, Doris Thomas of Leachville. Laverne also leaves a step-granddaughter, Chasity Eno, and a step-great-grandson, Preston Dunn.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Graig Stull officiating. The family will receive visitors from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Cushman.
