Denise Clayton

Denise Clayton, 72, of Caraway, passed from this life Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Aurora, Ill., she was raised by her grandparents, the late Horace and Elizabeth Rigsby. After receiving her GED in 1985, she continued her education receiving an associate’s degree from Southwestern Michigan College. Denise enjoyed going to casinos, working with arts and crafts and was a website designer. In addition to her grandparents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Murphy, and one son, Daniel Charles; and one sister, Laura Rigsby.

Survivors include longtime companion, Myril Clayton of the home; three sons, David Magnuson, of Woodstock, Ill., David Charles, of Bangor, Mich., and James Murphy, Jr. of Paragould; two daughters, Laura Clayton, of Marmaduke and Tammy Skinner of Monette; three brothers, Jimmy “James” Rigsby, Brian Rigsby and Johnny Rutherford, all of Downers Grove, Ill. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and her best friend, James Earl Murphy, Sr.
