Kathy Jean Young

Kathy Jean Young, 70, of Steele, Mo., passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, in Jonesboro.

Kathy was born in Ripley, Tenn., to James V. and Alda Jean Smith. Kathy was the oldest of siblings, so she grew up with a nurturing and loving character. She was very protective over her brother and sisters. Kathy’s boys were her world. She was a very caring and nurturing mother and grandmother. When Kathy wasn’t with her family, her passion was landscaping. She loved to be outdoors working in the yard. Kathy had a great sense of humor and could always be counted on for a good laugh.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, James V. Smith.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Jean Smith; her two boys, Robert Young (Amanda Rorie) of Steele, Mo., James (JR) Young of Blytheville; one brother, James V. Smith Jr. (Tracy); three sisters, Debbie Ann Bunch, Jeanette Lott (Terry), Annette Orchard (Tony); three grandchildren, Macklin Young, Mackenzie Young, Wesley Young; the father of her boys, Bobby Young; several nieces and nephews who all loved her as much as she loved them; and her precious cat, Thomas, whom she loved dearly.

Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb.21, at Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
