Thomas Dowdy, Colonel, D.D.S. U.S. Army Ret., 89, formerly of Blytheville, died Feb. 4 ,2024 in Vancouver, Wash. Col. Dowdy was a 1952 graduate of Blytheville High School and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry. He was a 31-year Army veteran. After retirement from the army, he received a degree in sculpture and presented the Ft. Riley Kansas museum with a life-size bust of Gen. MacArthur that he made.

Col. Hardy was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Mary Dowdy, of Blytheville, and sister, Carol Whitner, of Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Dowdy; sisters, Mary Hardy of Fayetteville and Lynn Powell of Bartlett, Tenn.; daughter, Kristina Goff; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of Littleton, Colo.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Blytheville or the charity of choice.
