Charles “Buddy” Griffin III

Charles “Buddy” Griffin III, 90, of Wilson, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2024. He was born Dec. 20, 1933, in Wilson to Charles Robert II and Gertie Mae Griffin. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Wilson. Buddy served in the United States Navy, worked for 40 years for Lee Wilson Co. and later worked and retired from American Greetings. He was a gun enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, collecting coins, and taking loving care of his cat, Little Bit.

Buddy is survived by his son, Greg (Eva) Griffin of Wilson; daughter, Cheryl Ann (Ray) King of Germantown, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Garrett (Sophia) Griffin of Kansas City, Mo., Grant King of Germantown, Tenn., and Austin (Katie) King of Memphis, Tenn.; great-granddaughter, Hazel Griffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Alice Ann Griffin; and his sister, Bobbie Mae Greff.

The visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 26, at Roller-Swift Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with the funeral service following at noon. Interment will be in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens.
