Mary Frances Carmichael, 66, of Manila, widow of Gary “Winkey” Carmichael, passed from this life Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Starkville, Miss., she was the daughter of Raymond and Mary Ann Huffman Carmichael and had been a longtime Manila resident. She was a loving homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Her hobbies included crafting and gardening. She was an avid animal lover. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, O.C. Carmichael, Roy Carmichael, Lloyd Carmichael and Bill Carmichael; and one sister, Vena Brewer.

Survivors include three sons, Gary “Little Winkey” Carmichael, Jr. (Heather) and Jason Andrew Carmichael, both of Manila, and Jeff Stroud (Alycia) of Jonesboro; two daughters, Holly Dillon (Brad) and Holly Hill, both of Manila; two brothers, Buck Carmichael and Raymond “Shorty” Carmichael, both of Jonesboro; three sisters, Betty Brewer of Mountain View, Thelma Adams of Manila and Pat Carmichael of Jonesboro. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Dylan Carmichael, Dalton Carmichael, Gage Edgin, Dixie Carmichael, Cameron Lee, Hunter Lee, Jaicee Dillon, Ethan Dillon, Harley Main, Cotton Carmichael and Zane Dillon.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Graig Stull officiating. Burial will follow in the Monette Memorial Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Jason Carmichael, Petey Slankerd, Jimmy Platz, Buddy Carmichael, Greg Carmichael and Keith Brewer. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ron Rakestraw, Ricky Lee and Bobby “Leroy” Slankerd. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 6-8:00 at the funeral home.
