Clyde Waymon Williams Sr.

Clyde Waymon Williams Sr., 89, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Monette to the late Clyde and Ella Barnum Williams. Waymon graduated from Monette High School and was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church. He was raised in Monette where he found a love of basketball and agriculture. This lead to a degree in agri from Arkansas State University. He spent several years working as a USDA inspector for plants in California and Florida. He had a passion for farming and spent many years cultivating that passion. He was always ready to share his knowledge and experience. He loved to dance and was always ready with a joke. Waymon was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone. He will be greatly missed.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Loralyle Williams; his son, Clyde Waymon “Bo” Williams Jr.; and a brother, Tommy Williams.

He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Lorrie and Richie Pace and Drs. Ashlei and Jeff Lowery; grandchildren, Ella Lowery and William Lowery; sisters, Genevieve Lane and Mary Lou Robertson; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stan Ballard officiating. Interment was at Monette Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Richie Pace, Jeff Lowery, William Lowery, Jeremy Williams, Alan Dewitt and Logan Dewitt.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Arkansas Sheriff Youth Ranch.
