Clifford Birklund

Clifford Birklund, 92, of Manila, passed from this life Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at his home. Born and raised in Flint, Mich., to the late Eli and Winifred Birklund, he was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School. Clifford had been a Manila resident since 1982. He was employed by KBOA radio station in Kennett selling advertisements until his retirement in 1983, and prior to that he had worked at the Chicago Tribune drawing caricatures. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and his greatest enjoyment in life was art. He had several trunks full of his drawings and paintings. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Claudine Birklund of the home; two sons, Gilmore Birklund (Renee) of Virginia Beach, Vir., and Lindsay Birklund of Key Colony Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Gregory Birklund and Jake Birklund, both of Virginia Beach, Vir.; a nephew, Rodd Birklund of Clermont, Fla.
