Sharon Sue Shelton, 76, of Meridian, Miss., passed from this life to meet the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at 1 p.m. with visitation immediately following the service.

Sharon was born to James “Dub” Boren and Virginia Boren in Blytheville. Sharon was a proud and faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator in Meridian, Miss. Her devotion to Christ was reflected through her fellowship and to the service of her community.

As a true servant, Sharon’s dedication to the Mississippi Special Olympics and the Parent’s Circle Support further cemented her selfless acts. Sharon spent her life dedicated to helping those with special needs because of her son. She worked for years as a special needs professional for those who were challenged and loved her students like they were her own. It was not unusual to find one of her students at her table enjoying a meal with the family.

Sharon was known for her ability to bring out a smile and although she faced many challenges in life she always chose not to dwell in difficulties but rather focus on the humor in it all.

Those that were blessed to have known her received joy and memories that would last a lifetime.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Shelton; a daughter, Jennifer Shelton; her parents; and a twin sister, Karen Koonce.

She is survived by her son, Zachary Shelton of Waynesboro, Miss.; and her brother, James “Butch” Boren Jr., and his wife Lana of Scottsdale, Ariz. Sharon leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to sincerely thank some very dear friends, Suzanne and Steve Timbrell of Meridian, Miss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainbow Connection at The Episcopal Church of the Mediator of Meridian, Miss., or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
