Editor’s Corner: May we support one another

Friday, August 25, 2023

So, they say “every woman needs a ‘no matter what’ friend. Someone she can call no matter what. Someone she can vent to, no matter what. Someone she doesn’t have to explain herself to, no matter what.”

I have been very blessed in my life to have several of these women, but I must say nothing hurts worse than to lose one of your girlfriends. I have lost five of these amazing women in the past and this week I lost another. My heart is heavy even though I am very happy to know my friend is now living in a perfect place - a place where she will never be judged again.

Through the years we shared many stories, hopes, dreams, secrets and even tears. But we never judged each other because true friends do not judge.

I will forever be grateful for the times we shared. I was blessed and my life was changed because of her.

A true friend encourages your endeavors and backs up your dreams even though she knows you may very well fall flat on your face. However, when you do something really stupid, she steps in. That was my friend that I lost this week.

There is great comfort in true friendship.

Clifton Fadiman said, "One measure of friendship consists not in the number of things friends can discuss, but in the number of things they need no longer mention.”

Her friendship gave me strength, courage, and peace of mind.

May you all be blessed with such friends and may all women support one another!
