Norma “Jean” Finley Green

Norma “Jean” Finley Green, 80, of Monette, entered into her heavenly rest Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Elizabeth to the late Harm and Sarah Wadkins Finley, she was raised in Norfork and Black Oak. Norma Jean was known as “Red” to most during her life. She was outgoing and always spoke her mind. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, dancing, playing the guitar, fishing, boat riding, traveling, singing, tending to her flower garden, raising tomatoes and watching Michael Jordan play basketball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Vernie Green; two daughters Cathy Jean Green and Laura Green Holloway; two brothers, John William “JW” Finley and Floyd Finley; and four sisters, Novella Lame, Roberta McFarland, Lucilla Parker and Dessie Dunn.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, James Lamar of the home; five sons, Michael “Dino” Green of Killeen, Texas, Danny Ray Green of Monette, Donnie Lamar of Gainesville, Chris Lamar (Charlia) of Lafe and Jerry Lamar (Leah) of Monette; two daughters, Lisa Alred (Terry) of Monette and Jamie Peel (Gary) of Caraway; son in law, Allan Holloway of Black Oak; sister, Lorina Ritter of Calico Rock; thirteen grandchildren, Jeremy Shepard, Richard Hale Jr., Amanda Green, James Allan Holloway, Kenneth Green, Madisyn Lamar Hamilton, Markus Lamar, Chasney Griggry, Bailey Jean Dunlap, Charlee Sue Lamar, Pacey Dunlap, Jaxsyn Lamar and Paisley “Pay Pay” Peel. Norma also leaves 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Macey Cemetery near Monette with Mr. Eddie Dunigan officiating. Serving as active pallbearers will be Jeremy Shepard, Terry Alred, Gary Peel, Robbie Shirley, Donnie Lamar and Markus Lamar. Honorary pallbearers include Junior Rogers, Jaxsyn Lamar, Pacey Dunlap, Kenneth Green and James Allan Holloway. The family will receive visitors from 9 a.m. until service time at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville.
