Jamie Kaye Hicks, 58, of Manila left this earth on Aug. 12, 2023. Jamie was born in Osceola on Aug. 27, 1964, and was a lifelong resident of the West Ridge and Manila communities. She graduated as salutatorian from Missco High School in 1982 and continued her education, receiving a Master’s degree in special education from Arkansas State University. She would go on to teach special education in Trumann, Manila, Blytheville, and Buffalo Island Central before retiring in 2013. Jamie was raised in a Christian home attending Brinkley Chapel Baptist Church before continuing to serve the Lord at First Baptist Church in Manila. She loved going to church and serving with her fellow members. Some of her favorite memories were of growing up with friends and family at Brinkley Chapel, then as an adult helping with the youth as her children grew up. She saw her church family at both Brinkley Chapel and First Baptist as an extension of her family.

Jamie’s biggest love was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. She loved spending time with her family and was the primary coordinator of birthday parties, holiday get-togethers, and family reunions. One of her favorite things was getting together with family and friends and talking about their favorite memories, laughing, and catching up on what was going on in everyone’s life. Jamie considered her friends family as well, and loved the late night visits, phone calls, and trips with her closest friends. Jamie also grew up playing sports, especially basketball, and traveled all over the country to watch her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews play and coach basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball. When she couldn’t travel to a game, she made sure to watch it online. She loved everyone, was extremely loyal, and did what she could to listen and help others.

Jamie was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Davis, and grandparents, Jimmie and Willie Davis and Raymond and Dorothy Sweet. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Davis; two children, Jessica Hicks (David) and John Hicks; grandchildren, Allie Copeland, Sophie Williams, Drake Morris and Brody Morris, all of Manila. She is also survived by two sisters, Monica Brewington (Anthony) of Pocahontas, and Mitzi Adcock (Michael) of Manila; one brother, Bradley Davis (Vickie) of Jonesboro; along with six nieces and nephews, Blain and Clark Brewington, Kirsten and Sydney Adcock, Haley Tucker, and Noah Gatewood; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
