Bonnie Lou Sheppard Leggett

Bonnie Lou Sheppard Leggett, 91, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at her home.

Bonnie was born in Roseland to Dewey and Pearl Magers Sheppard. She was a graduate of Dell High School where she played basketball. After graduation, she attended Lindenwood College and graduated from Memphis State with her teaching degree. Bonnie started her teaching career as a home economics teacher, and later went on the teach at Fairview Elementary School for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. Bonnie was a wonderful artist and painted many beautiful paintings, and was an excellent cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Charley” Leggett; and sisters, Clementine Love and Vailima Knight.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, Chuck Leggett and his wife Vicki Ruffin Leggett of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Rick Leggett and his wife Kelly of Germantown, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Lydia Leggett Duncan and her husband Jordan and Joseph Broy.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Jumper officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
