Walter Lee Johnson, Sr.

Walter Lee Johnson, Sr., 86, of Osceola passed away July 20, 2023, at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro. He was retired from maintenance in the dietary department and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Johnson was born May 16, 1937, in Sallis, Miss., to George and Beatrice Coleman Johnson, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Carthon; four brothers, Lawrence Johnson, Willie Johnson, John Johnson and George Johnson; and one sister, Margaret Hunter.

He is survived by three sons, Walter (Minnie) Johnson, Jr., Bruce (Mary) Johnson and Phillip (Gloria) Johnson of Osceola; three daughters, Carolyn Chambers of Osceola, Terri (Donnie) Clark of Gosnell and Sharon Johnson of Jonesboro; two sisters, Vicky (John) Roby and Ida Ruth Malone of Sallis, Miss.; a host of grand-, great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 29, from 12-2 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Burial will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Osceola with Rev. Ronald Williams officiating. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola will be in charge of the services.
