Lois Ruth “Dixie” Dixon

Friday, June 2, 2023

Lois Ruth “Dixie” Dixon died Monday, May 29, 2023, after a brief illness.

Born in Lincoln, Neb., on Feb. 22, 1938, Dixie was adopted by her parents, Dale and Emma Wagner, and was raised in the small farming community of Eustis, Neb. She was an Air Force wife who raised three children together with her husband Vernon, a veteran of 26 years.

Dixie enjoyed bowling, participating in many leagues over the years. She liked to bake, with her favorite recipe being her mother’s cinnamon rolls. Even though the recipe has been passed down for several generations, no one could make them quite like Dixie could. She was also an avid reader, devouring hordes of romance novels, which she then generously shared with the rest of us.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Vernon Carson Dixon.

Dixie is survived by her three children, Tammy Manning (Michael), Judy Dixon and Dale Dixon; five grandchildren, Kristina Kallies (Mark), Brenda Saylors (William), Matthew Manning, Jonathan Berwick and Patrick Berwick; and four great-grandchildren, Alexander Kallies, Samantha Kallies, Kenleigh Berwick and Ayla Berwick.

Dixie died as she lived, surrounded by love. She has left a colossal hole in our hearts and will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye. The family will receive friends Friday, June 2, from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
