Mary Jane Thieme Brock

Mary Jane Thieme Brock, 75, died Dec. 12, 2022, in a Memphis hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Memphis, Tenn., on March 2, 1947, to the late W.A. “Mike” Thieme and Eula V. Hutton Thieme, of Manila.

She was a 1965 graduate of Manila High School. She was also a graduate of Memphis State University. Mary Jane was a long-time teacher in the Memphis Public Schools System, finishing her long career as a special ed teacher at Raleigh-Egypt Middle School.

Mary Jane married Jimmy Ray Brock in 1965. They were married for 18 years until his death in 1983. They had one daughter, Amanda Leigh, and one granddaughter, Hazel Olive Free.

She was a long-time member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Raleigh and was currently attending Bartlett United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter; granddaughter; one brother, Jim Thieme (Romona) of Manila; one niece, Rachel Thieme, also of Manila; and many cousins.

Visitation will be Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. at Bartlett United Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Manila cemetery at 3 p.m.
