J.W. “Prunes” Hopper

J.W. “Prunes” Hopper, 96, of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at his home.

J.W. was born in Tomato to George and Alice Freeman Hopper and was a member of Ruddle Road Church of God. He was passionate about farming and spent his life doing what he loved before retiring. J.W. enjoyed being outdoors and was often picking up pecans, woodworking or gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hopper; daughter-in-law, Cathy Hopper; son-in-law, Joe Sutton; and nine brothers and sisters.

J.W. is survived by his children, Paulette Richardson and her husband Jerry, Doyle “Buddy” Hopper and his wife Sherrie, Walter “Wally” Hopper and Tony Hopper and his wife Adonis, all of Blytheville; 12 grandchildren, Doyle, Jr., Jake, Jarred, Lynn, Jeffrey, Anthony and Nathaniel Hopper, Leslie Hopper Wilson, Pam Sutton Burnham, Dana Sutton, Amy Hopper Ketchum and Debbie Hopper Wyss; 18 great-grandchildren, J.D., Wesley, Logan, Ruddle, Hannah, Hailey, Justin, Taylor, Andrew, Adam, Nady Kate and Holt Hopper, Levi, Ty and Ally Ketchum, Braden Burnham, Kayli Hopper White and Griffin Wyss; and great-great-grandchild, Penny Mae Hopper.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, at 3:30 p.m. at Ruddle Road Church of God with Rev. Danny Pankey officiating. Entombment will follow in Dogwood Mausoleum.
