John L. Swanagan

John L. Swanagan, 73, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at his home. Born Dec. 29, 1946, in Haynes, John was the son of the late Leroy and Mae Willie Tolbert Swanagan. John was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Erice Swanagan; two brothers, Leroy Swanigan and Willie Burks.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a past employee of Myers Barkery.

John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Elizabeth Swanagan of the home; two sons, John Henry Swanagan and Michael Swanagan, both of Bend Harbor, Mich.; four daughters, Miracle Swanagan of Blytheville, Frances Parnell of Allen, Texas, Cutoy Armstrong of East St. Louis, Ill., and Rosalyn Gentry of St. Louis, Mo.; two stepsons, Joe Ed Guyton Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind., and Shannon Maurice Guyton of Clarkton, Mo.; five brothers; Nathan Swanigan of Hughes, Jesse Swanigan, Eddie Swanigan, Jimmy Swanigan, all of St. Louis, Mo., and Herman Swanigan of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister; Mae Lee Phillips of Forrest City; a special niece, Theresa Barclay of Blytheville; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a special niece; 18 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12-12:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home & Cremation, 634 W. Main Street, Blytheville, AR 72315. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Memory Garden Cemetery.
