Yvonne Bassett

Yvonne Bassett, 85, of Old Appleton, Mo., and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Yvonne was born in Yalobusha County, Miss., to Rev. W.J. and Ivy Gadd Clayton. She worked for 45 years as a certified nurse’s assistant, and worked at Blytheville Hospital, Chickasawba Hospital and Baptist Hospital before retiring. Yvonne attended H.I.S. Ministries and loved to sing with her husband at church. She also sang in a quartet with her husband, daughter and sister, Paulette. She loved to play the piano and enjoyed cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bassett; and her parents.

Yvonne leaves her daughter, Nina Marshall and her husband David of Old Appleton, Mo.; sister, Paulette Jones and her husband Bill of Fruitland, Mo.; and grandchildren, Philip and Kendall Marshall.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terri Brassfield officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines, no more than 50 people will be allowed to gather inside of Cobb Funeral Home at one time and practice social distancing, keeping a 6-foot distance between one another.
