Mrs. Rosie Lee Johnson, 92, of Blytheville, departed this life on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, surrounded by her family at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Mrs. Johnson was born in Dell on Feb. 20, 1927. She was one of nine children of the late William Jefferson and Lucy Spears Jefferson.

Mrs. Johnson married the late Clarence Johnson in 1953, and lived in Hermondale, Mo., where she and her husband worked their farm and raised six wonderful children. Mrs. Johnson also worked for the Headstart Program for over 30 years and retired in 1997, after receiving many awards and recognition for her outstanding service. She provided guidance, love and support to her family and Hermondale community. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her loving family.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Shady Grove M.B. Church, in Hermondale, Mo., where she held various teaching, secretarial and bookkeeping positions for over 60 years. At the time of her death she was a member of Mt. Moriah Church, Blytheville. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her son Jesse Adams, Jr.; two sisters, Mary and Hattie, six brothers, Jacob, Andrew, Albert, Louis, Isaiah and Solomon Jefferson; one grandchild, Markita Jackson; and one great-grandchild, Saniyah Casey.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by four daughters, Teressa Wells of Blytheville, Ella (Gerald) Hudlin of Edwardsville, Ill., Juanita (Eddie) Brown, Jr. of Gosnell, Inez Johnson Ross of St. Louis, Mo.; one son, Clarence Cleo Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Ethel Jean Adams of Blytheville; 10 grandchildren, Timothy Smith, Shawn Casey, Darrell Conner, Calvin Casey, Timothy Casey, Pamela Fryer, Eddie Brown III, Roseann McCulley, Audrey Hudlin, Katharine Ross; 24 great-grandchildren and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 920 South Lake St., Blytheville. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Laddie Whaley officiating. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery in Yarbro.
