Melvin Dean Wood

Melvin Dean Wood, 83, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, July 12, 2019, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1936, in Caraway to the late William and Pearl Brandon Wood. Melvin served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He was a founding member of the Caraway Community of Christ Church. He had worked in the printing industry for Boeing Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas and locally for Forrest Office Machines for 40 years. 

He enjoyed bean bag baseball and was on a state champion team. Another great source of joy was as he drove hundreds of patients to their medical appointments while he was a driver for the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by four sons, Rick Wood, Melvin Wood Jr. and Jerry Wood, all of Jonesboro, and Brian Wood of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Rita Baldridge of California; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Wood, and eight brothers and a sister.

A service will be held from 5 until 7 p.m., Monday, July 15, at the Caraway Community of Christ Church.
