Jackie (Jack) Dale Hancock Sr.

Jackie (Jack) Dale Hancock Sr., 93, departed this life on Feb. 19, 2019, in Grove, Okla. He was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Harrisburg, Ill., the son of Arthur and Emma Pearl (Darnall) Hancock.

He served with the 6th Marine Division in the United States Marine Corps in World War II. After discharging from the Marines Mr. Hancock joined the United States Air Force and served in Korea and Vietnam. He served his country for a total of 24 years. Following his military service, he served as a chief engineer for Security Barge Lines until his retirement.

Jack was an avid Oklahoma Thunder basketball and Arkansas Razorback fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Jarrett Hancock; three sons, John D. Hancock of Moreno Valley, Calif., Jackie (Peggy) Hancock, Jr. of Rogers and Ronald W. Hancock; two daughters, Pam Lish of Dallas, Texas, and Tanya (Willie) Byrd of Semmes, Ala.; sister Betty Bynum of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at Tyronza Cemetery on Saturday, May 18, at 3 p.m. Cobb Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
