Denise Corkran Johnson, 57, of Blytheville, passed away Jan. 29, 2019, at her home.

Born to Jimmy and Doris (White) Corkran in Osceola, she was the Ministerial Assistant at Calvary Baptist Church in Osceola, employee of Dr. Scott Johnson and a member of the First Baptist Church in Luxora. Denise was a graduate of Blytheville High School and received her associate’s degree at Mississippi County Community College in Blytheville. Following the death of her son Alex, she organized the Alex Johnson Memorial Benefit for the Mississippi County Literacy Council. Denise enjoyed gardening, creating floral arrangements, reading, and traveling. She was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter who enjoyed spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Corkran; husband, Mark Alan Johnson; son, Alexander “Alex” Mark Johnson; and father-in-law, Billy Johnson.

Denise is survived by her daughter, Amber Johnson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; mother, Doris Corkran of Luxora; brother, Matt Corkran (Brenda) of Conway; mother-in-law, Maxine Thomas Johnson of Blytheville; brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Johnson (Mellanie) of Blytheville, Dr. Scott Johnson (Mona) of Blytheville; sister-in-law, Cara Goff (Steve) of Blytheville; seven beloved nieces and nephews and 12 beloved great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Matt and Matthew Corkran officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
