Virginia McClure, 89, of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Gosnell Therapy and Living.

Virginia was born in Roseland to William “Bob” and Lucille Baughman and was a member of North Tenth Street Baptist Church. She was retired from Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator after 30 years, and also retired after 14 years as operator #7 at Blytheville Air Force Base. Virginia loved to volunteer her time and was a volunteer and board member for the American Red Cross, and did volunteer work for the Mississippi County Senior Citizens Center. She liked to sew and was a member of the Parkside Extension Homemakers Club. Virginia was the past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a member of American Legion Post 24.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Baughman; four brothers, William “Buddy” Baughman, Thomas, Robert and Haskell Baughman.

Virginia leaves two children, Katherine M. Fruchtnicht and James R. McClure, both of Blytheville; and two grandchildren, Paul S. Fruchtnicht of Covington, Louisiana and Sarah Rae Newman and her husband Mat of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31st at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Max Briley officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to North Tenth Street Baptist Church or the Blytheville Humane Society.
