Terry Michael (Mike) Johnson
Mr. Terry Michael (Mike) Johnson, 66, of Paragould died at his home on Monday, November 7, 2016. Mr. Johnson was born in Bakersfield, California to William Denver Johnson and Sarah (Shug) Polsgrove Johnson on November 9, 1949. He graduated from Blytheville high School and lived in Blytheville most of his life.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and received the Purple Heart Medal while serving in the Vietnam War. He was a Blytheville firefighter for 20 years, and retired as Captain of the fire department.
After retirement, he worked at several repair shops. He could fix anything and always worked in places where there were mechanical things for him to work on. He was known as "Mr. Fix-it." He was car enthusiast, and loved not only working on them, but talking about them, especially Dodges. He enjoyed playing pinball and putting model cars together; he was great at barbequing, and he was very good at drawing (he wasn't an artist, but a "drawer"). He loved all living things, and was especially fond of dogs and cats, of which he had several.
He was a very talented and knowledgeable man. His son said that if he had a question about anything he would call his Dad. His brothers called him "ornery", but in a loving way.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Michael Johnson (and Angela) of Brighton, MO;
two brothers: Phil Johnson of Hampton, Iowa and Timothy Glen Johnson (and Nancy) of Fairview, Texas;
three grandchildren: Peyton, Keighlyn and Lauren Johnson, of Brighton, MO;
and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Carney Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating, assisted by Fire Chief Mike Carney. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until service time. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made to the Humane Society.
