Linzell Miller, Sr.

Mr. Linzell Miller, Sr., 81, of Luxora, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital/CrossRoads Hospice in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born in Luxora to the late Robert Miller and the late Mary Mabins Miller, and was a graduate of Rosenwald High School in Osceola. He joined the United States Air Force in April 1954 and retired after 24 years of service. He had a successful military career and his last base assignment was Blytheville's Eaker Air Force Base.

He was married to Linda Cody and they are parents of eight children. He was a member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church of Luxora where he served as a deacon, member of the Trustee Board, Sunday school teacher, Superintendent, and other auxiliaries of the church. He lived an exemplary Christian life and had a great love for God, his family and mankind.

In August 1967, he began a second outstanding career with the Northeast Arkansas Federal Credit Union (NEAFCU). He started in marketing at the credit union, later became a loan officer, then assistant manager, a vice president, loan supervisor and then to the position of senior collection manager until he retired in 2005. He served on the NEAFCU's Board of Directors after retirement.

For twenty-two years, he served as a City Councilman for Luxora.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Solomon.

Mr. Miller leaves his wife, Mrs. Linda Miller of the home;

Five daughters, Mrs. Eloise (Norvell) Moore of Blytheville, Mrs. Louise Pugh of Luxora, Mrs. Carlotta (Darrell) Hill of Luxora, Mrs. Shelia Rodriquez of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Dedril Moore of Pine Bluff, and Ms. Sherry Henton of Luxora, who was reared as a daughter;

Three sons, Linzell (Alice) Miller, Jr. of Silver Springs, Md., Willie (Linda) West of Memphis and Kenny (Ella) Miller of Boyd, Md.;

Three sisters, Mrs. Stephanie Williford of Chicago, Mrs. Charlesetta Freeman of Kansas City and Ms. Jettie Miller of Luxora;

Two brothers, Billy (Viola) Miller of Luxora and Robert (Millicent) Miller of Erie, Penn.;

Twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at noon, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Promiseland Church of God in Christ, S. Highway 61, in Osceola with Elder Johnny L. Moore, Pastor officiating and the Reverend Dr. Lawrence Haley serving as the Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Luxora City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Promiseland Church of God in Christ in Osceola.
