Ruth King Darby

Mrs. Ruth King Darby, 86, of Blytheville, passed from this life Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Rockmart, Ga., to Moses and Elsie Marks King, she was a homemaker and a member of North Tenth Street Baptist Church. Ruth was known by everyone for being a generous person. She was always giving and doing for others.

She was a former Sunday school teacher and loved singing in the church choir. Being a farmer's wife, Ruth worked in the fields beside her husband and also volunteered with the American Red Cross for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. "Jake" Darby Sr.; two brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by her children, Lois Plunkett, W.C. Darby Jr and wife, Sharon, Terry Darby and wife, Kathy and Benny King Darby, all of Blytheville, and Frances Humbard and husband, Clement ,of Hot Springs;

Two brothers, Jay W. King of Russellville and Moses King Jr. of Dana Park, Calif.;

A sister, Ruby Ashby of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and

Nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Max Briley and the Rev. Danny Pankey officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
