Editor’s Corner: See you at the Super Bowl Xavier!

5 foot 11 inches; 165 pound!

Who would have ever thought I would even care?

Thursday, I spent all day covering a murder trial and then headed straight to the chamber banquet. Yet, somehow I arrived home just in time to watch the Kansas City Chiefs pick wide receiver Xavier Worthy from Texas to give my friend Patrick Mahomes a new weapon on the field. I hear this boy is fast... Fast enough to make my husband and the 49ers shake in their cleats.

The first-round trade-up will prove to be a very smart decision as Worthy and Mahomes create chemistry on the field.

Worthy played high school football at Central East in Fresno, California and played college ball for the Texas Longhorns. He holds the 40-yard dash record at the NFL Combine with a time of 4.21 seconds. Did I mention he is fast? The boy holds the record!

The Chief’s new speedster will be a powerful weapon. Admittedly, he is not very big and will probably fall pretty easily, but you have to catch him first. It’s been said “he has the kind of speed that can fundamentally change how a defense calls coverages.”

The Cincinnati Bengals better watch out because he will run right past Geno Stone and Jordan Battle like lightening in the distance.

And, don’t be surprised if he if doesn’t prove to also be a weapon at the line of scrimmage. The sports guys say he is “shifty.” Apparently, that’s a good word when you are talking about football.

Yes, he will have to learn to reach for the ball, but he will have the best quarterback in the NFL to help him work on those skills.

Well, it should be fun. I’ll see you at the Super Bowl Xavier!
