Bettye Collier Nutt

Bettye Collier Nutt, 84, of Altoona, Ala., formerly of Blytheville, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at her home.

Born to Everett and Frankie Collier, Bettye was a retired school teacher for Rivercrest High School. Bettye spent most of her life in Blytheville, shaping the minds of her students. She taught English at Blytheville High School from 1962-1963, French and English at Rivercrest High School, then taught at Arkansas Northeastern College after retirement. Bettye absolutely loved her family and friends. She was an avid reader and world traveler. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, Bettye was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnnie Nutt; one brother, William Henry Collier; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Arndt and Ricky Moore.

Bettye is survived by one brother, Arden Collier, and wife Ann of Clarkston, Mich.; five sisters, Barbara Gossage, and husband Bob of Chandler, Ariz., Mary Arndt of Bartlett, Tenn., Pattie Lovins, and husband Ron of Marked Tree, Peggy Nichols, and husband Travis of Nederland, Texas, Debbie Moore of Altoona, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
