Douglas John Charles Simmons

Douglas John Charles Simmons, 84, of Jonesboro, passed from this life Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. The son of the late Alexander and Olga Daniluk Simmons, he was born and raised in Detroit, Mich. A 1958 graduate of Lincoln High School, he attended Wayne State University in Detroit and graduated in 1967. Douglas was a chemical engineer and had been employed by Lockheed Martin, NASA and Pacific Great Northern Railway. He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed working with computers and railroads. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Gwendolyn Jean Maguire.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kelly Shepard Simmons of the home; one stepson, Adam Smith of Monette; one daughter, Angela Simmons of Kansas City, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Morgan Smith of the home; two sisters, Millie Anne Simmons Ostrander, of Antioch, Ill., and Debra Marie Kaye Simmons Gundler, of Orlando, Fla. Douglas also leaves two grandchildren.
