Maxine Furlow

Maxine Furlow was born in Blytheville on Jan. 20, 1959, to R.D. Mullins and Betty Jones. She was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Evelyn Jones and Bernice (Bonnie) Jones; and nephew, Darron Williams, Sr.

She departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Maxine grew up in Blytheville where she attended Blytheville Public School system until the ninth grade. She began her work career with the Federal Compress in Blytheville, and after working there for many years she began working for Houseworth Hotels as a housekeeper where she worked until she retired. Last year, Maxine confessed her hope in Christ and became a member of St. Luke MB church.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Furlow Sr., of Blytheville; one daughter, Shemika (Garrick) Rose of Blytheville; one brother, George Cooper of Sioux City, Iowa; two grandchildren, MSgt Tyanna (LeTavion, Sr.) Williams of Southaven, Miss., and Travon Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Kairi Williams, LeTavion Williams, Jru and Elijah Williams of Southaven, Miss.; three bonus children, Kimley (Erica) Knowles-Jackson and Billy Furlow Jr. of Little Rock and Aysia Whitfield of Blytheville; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville. The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at New Immanuel M.B. Church in Blytheville at 2 p.m. Burial will be held at Sandy Ridge in Burdette with Bishop Henry Mays officiating.

Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville will be in charge of the arrangements.
