Grover Cleveland Skaggs

Grover Cleveland Skaggs, 93, of Leachville, passed from this life Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Marked Tree, he was the son of the late James W. and Sally Bailey Skaggs and had been a longtime area resident. He was a longtime employee of the Leachville Compress, retiring in 1972. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering with small engine repair. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Long Skaggs; one son, Gerald Skaggs; three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his son, Doyle Skaggs, and his wife Barbara of Lafe; three daughters, Linda Harper of Los Fresnos, Texas, Barbara Moore and husband Terry of Deltona, Fla., and Patricia Burgess of Jonesboro. He also leaves four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Terry Moore and Rev. Tim Bulleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday from noon until service time. Online guest register is at www.howardfuneralservice.com.
