Valerie Jean Harvey

Valerie Jean Harvey, 60, of Osceola, passed away Oct. 19, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born March 20, 1963, in Keiser to Henry and Melvina Lumpkin Allen. Valerie was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Henry Allen; two sisters, Melody Robinson and Freda Allen; and one grandchild AyeKenja Mitchell.

She is survived by one son, Arthur (Fredericka Nelson) Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Shambrica Allen of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Donald (Karen) Allen of Sioux Falls, N.D., Melvin (Linda) Allen of Stafford, Vir., and Clifford Allen of Jonesboro; two sisters, Debra (James) Brown of Osceola and Carolyn Williams of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her caregiver and very special friend, Ruby Hopewell of Luxora; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 28, from 1-2 p.m. with the funeral at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Burial will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Osceola with Minister Carolyn Williams officiating. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola will be in charge of the arrangements.
