John James “Cooter” Cook

John James “Cooter” Cook, 85, of Osceola, passed away Oct. 15, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Aug. 16, 1938, in Shelby, Miss., to James Martin and Virgie Beatrice Chapman Cook. Cooter was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church in Caraway. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, David Wayne Cook, Leroy Cook, Charles “Dobber” Cook, Robert “Popeye” Cook and Paul Howard Cook; six sisters, Cheryl Shepperson, Jo Marie Watson, Maggie Helen Russ, Georgie Beatrice Dalton, Gail Cook and Suzie Cox.

He is survived by one brother, Jimmy (Dorothy) Cook of Osceola; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. The funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Burial will be at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens in Osceola with Bro. Grady Johnson officiating. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola is in charge of arrangements.
