Murelene McFarlin Walker

Murelene McFarlin Walker, 60, of Monette, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Murelene fought a long battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 21, 1963, in Monette to the late Dean and Alice McFarlin. She graduated Monette High School in 1981 and graduated from Arkansas State University. Murelene worked in adult education at Arkansas Northeastern College and enjoyed being a teacher at Buffalo Island Central School for several years. She loved her family and friends and always had a huge smile on her face. She lost her husband, John Walker, in March of this year.

She is survived by her daughters, MaKensie Walker, Jenny Walker Hillhouse, Kelly Walker and Tina Walker Roeland; a grandson, Vincent Walker Hillhouse; her brother, James Dean McFarlin; two nephews, Darrin McFarlin and Blake Smithee; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
