Dalton Ray Southern

Dalton Ray Southern, 72, of Blytheville, passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, La. Born to Orbie Lee and Juanita Kinkaid Southern in Blytheville, he was a retired employee of Terra and of the Pentecostal faith. Dalton always had an outgoing personality and easily made friends. He was a devoted family man and would do anything for anyone. Friendship meant a lot to Dalton and he cherished each one. Dalton loved going camping with his family at Hardy when able, being outdoors and anything that would involve time with his family. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family.

Dalton was preceded in death by parents; his beloved wife of 49 years, Brenda Green Southern; son, Donald Ray Southern; grandson, Bryan Abbott; and sister, Jean Lowery.

Dalton is survived by his children, Vickie and Ronny Abbott, Nathan Southern, Penny Paschal, all of Louisiana; grandchildren, Derrick Abbott, Ashley Abbott, Justin Southern, Shawn Paschal; great-grandchildren, Ariel Abbott, Joseph LaCombe, Olivia LaCombe; great-great-grandchildren, Briley Paschal and Elijah Abbott; sisters, Wilma Mashburn, Neda Green, Pat and Bobby Green, Eloise and Larry Tubbs, Shenia and Rev. Dewayne Culp and Sherry Barrentine Southern.

A celebration of Dalton’s life will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Pathway Church Ministries with Rev. Dewayne Culp officiating.
