Sharon “Kathy” Selby

Sharon “Kathy” Selby, 71, of Jonesboro departed this life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born March 20, 1952, to the late R.L. and Beatrice Swink in Leachville. Kathy moved to the Jonesboro area in 1992 coming from Blytheville. She was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro.

In 1976, Kathy began her in-home daycare. She was lovingly referred to as “Ms. Kathy” by upwards of a hundred children during her 40+ year career. When she was not working, Kathy spent her time in her garden, taking care of her flowers, crafting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Kathy is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Selby; four sisters, Eugenia Kaiser, Diann Pillow, Martha Baker and Wanda “Pat” Bolar.

She is survived by one son, Toby Selby (Rebecca) of Jonesboro; one daughter, Marti Jo Whitehead (Chad) of Jonesboro; three sisters, Verna Jo Stewart (Pete) of Romance, Sue Ezekiel (Jerry) of Clarksville, Tenn., Barbara Fears of Brownsville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Selby, Joe Stephen Selby III, Selby Kate Whitehead, Carter Guice Whitehead, Carson Grace Whitehead; brothers-in-law, Jerry Bolar of Childress and Wes Pillow of Paragould; and a lifetime of friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 15, starting 1 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel, services will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Jimmy Adcox and Bro. Richard Akins officiating. Active pallbearers include Doug Stewart, Mike Ezekiel, David Jordan, Lee Woodruff, Jeff Steiling, Bob Reddell and Brad Bolar. The elders at Southwest Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be at Leachville Cemetery.
