Wallace Taylor Needham

Wallace Taylor Needham, 80, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Blytheville to the late Bernice (Gambel) and Samual M. Needham.

Wallace served in the United States Army for over 17 years and retired in 1983. He worked as a private defense contractor with the Army in Ft. Ritchie, Md. Wallace raised a family with the love of his life, Anneliese, who passed away in 2010. He enjoyed spending time working with model trains, cars, and watching his favorite T.V. shows about cars.

Wallace is survived by his daughters, Patricia (James Derrington) Pheral and Josefine Sobotta; sisters, Mary Wilson, Ann McCauley, Florence Webster and Emloue Harrgis; brothers, Joe Needham and James Needham; grandchildren, Rebecca Sobotta, Jessica Sobotta, Jonathan Pheral, Lucas Pheral and Dakota Derrington; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Elisabeth “Anneliese” (Hermann) Needham.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, Ind. 47714. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Tim Garrett officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
