Shelby Jean Butler

Shelby Jean Butler, 86, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on April 7, 2023, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Nimmons on Jan. 13, 1937, to Merky and Edna Mae Stanley. She worked for 30 years at the Mississippi County Hospital and in the Human Resource Department. She served on several committees. She worked with the Dunklin County Library System and the children’s bookmobile. She was a founding member of the Theta Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Kennett, Mo.; president of the Blytheville Band Parents Organization; and was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years at churches in Kennett, Blytheville and Claremore, Okla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Butler; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Butler; sisters, Wanda Hopson, Ruth Strong, Mary Lou Slaton; brother, David Edward Stanley.

Survivors include her son, Andrew Butler; grandchildren, Alexis Butler and Aidan Butler, all of Jonesboro; and special friend, Joyce Harris. All services will be private.
