Loretta Marie Johnson Fry

Loretta Marie Johnson Fry, “Momma Fry”, 67, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at her home in Lake City with her husband by her side. She married the love of her life, Marvin, on June 10, 1973, then moved to Florida where her sunshine girl was born in 1974. Soon after, they moved to South Carolina where she graduated from Casey High School in 1975 and her first son ‘Bub’ was born in 1976. In 1977, they made their permanent home in Northeast Arkansas which included homes in both Lake City and Monette where they purchased the old Elvis Darr house. Completing her perfect family were her twin girls in 1978 followed by a rowdy middle son in 1979, and her baby boy in 1981. She was extremely proud to see all of her children graduate from Buffalo Island Central. She retired from Parker Hannifin in Trumann after over 20 years and went back to school earning a certificate in billing and coding. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Lake City. Loretta loved to dance and sing to Elvis Presley while cleaning house. Her favorite restaurant was Cheddar’s. She loved animals and never met a stranger. In her younger years, she loved to water ski but couldn’t swim a lick. You could say she never let anything hold her back. She would try anything if it made her family happy. Her kids and grandkids were her pride and joy.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Marvin, and her mother, Loretta Gonzalez. She was mother to three daughters, Lorie Williams (Jimmy), Melissa Fry (Jay), and Lisa Combs (Tye), and three sons, Marvin Fry II (Kelly), Jesse Fry (Sharon), and Daniel Fry (Brandi); grandchildren, Ariel (Anthony), Amber (JR), Emily (Matthew), Alyssa, Jr (Julia), Skylar (Trey), Katie (Braden), Trey, Trinettie, Gavin, Delon, Branden (Kirsten), Sarah (Eddie), Nash (Jillian), John (Hope), Page (Greg), Amanda (Travis), and Cody; great-grandchildren, Catalina, Everly, Melody, Jackson, Eliza, Marissa, Travis, Eleanor, Mattie, Everette, Kam, and Madi; siblings, Shirley Fry, Cathy Lane (Dewayne), Barbara Belbot, Joey Johnson (Betty), Jack Johnson, Luke Feliu, and Eddie Feliu.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Patricia Johnson, and a great-grandson, Dylan.

Visitation will be Friday, April 7, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette beginning at 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Her grandson, Branden Combs, will officiate. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Fry II, Jesse Fry, Daniel Fry, Jr Fry, Trey Fry, and Gavin Fry. Honorary pallbearers are Tye Combs, Garey Sparkman, Larry Fry, James Jeffries, JR Dehart, Jimmy Williams, and Maxie Jones.
