Helen Marie Chipman

Helen Marie Chipman, 89, of Manila, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2023. She passed away peacefully at her home where she was surrounded by her family. Helen was born Sept. 16, 1933, at the Crossroads community, south of Dell. She was the daughter of Frank and Opal Bradford and she attended Burdette and Walnut Ridge Public Schools. She married Harold Chipman on March 4, 1950. She was a loving, generous caregiver who put the needs of others first. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, golfing, bowling and traveling. She was an expert seamstress. Helen retired from Milwaukee Tool in 1994. She was an active long-time member of New Harmony Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold David Chipman; two daughters, Patricia Dale Chipman-Booth and Delores Diane Chipman-Thornton; and son-in-law Dale Blaylock.

Survivors include a daughter, Revis Chipman-Blaylock of the home; a son, Joe (Pam) Chipman of Manila; one sister, Pansy Shipman of Jonesboro; four brothers, Jay (Sue) Bradford of Manila, Jack (Sandy) Bradford of Gallatin, Tenn., J.R. (Linda) Bradford of Florida, and Ronnie (Sue) Bradford of Aurora, Ill.; two sons-in-law, Dwight Booth of Manila and John Thornton of Jacksonville; two sisters-in-law, Carlene Evans and Annalee Chipman, both of Manila; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Reverend John Henson and Reverend Lonnie Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Chipman’s grandsons, Dale T. Blaylock, Robert Chipman, Bill Pember, John Booth, Jason Dowdy and Chris Davison. Other grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
