Tuesday, February 7, 2023

Aleta Juel White Nowlin, 93, of Blytheville, widow of Mr. Bobby Nowlin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 2, 2023, at Gassville Nursing Center, a trip she had long awaited. She was born in Leachville on October 28, 1929, to the late Ralph Doyle and Olive Thompson White. Aleta married her late husband in 1946. They were married for 60 years. Aleta was a founding member of North Tenth Street Baptist Church in Blytheville. She was a devoted Sunday school and WMU member, and spent her life sharing God’s love with others. She will be remembered for her love of making people laugh, her benevolence in the community, her delight in celebrating family and friends, her strong faith in God and her mastery of Chinese checkers. Aleta found great pleasure in working beside her daddy on the farm, mowing her yard, attending family reunions, entertaining her grandchildren with a trip to the park, a tea party, or a board game, winning ribbons for entering her heirlooms in the Mississippi County Fair, and making Christmas a special celebration for her family. She was faithful to visit and encourage shut-ins and those who lived in nursing homes. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Gunn, Alma Louise White and Nancy Hedspeth; and one great-granddaughter, Haleigh Juel Cloud.

She is survived by her sons, Van Nowlin (Becky) of Mountain Home and Robert Nowlin of Rison; four grandchildren, Heather Nowlin-Cloud (Jason), who was a granddaughter who held a special place in her heart and home, and Jennifer Boogaart (Jeff), Laura Beth Baker (Josh), and Justin Nowlin (Tracy); eight great-grandchildren, Blake Cloud (Brittany Daniels), Sydney Cloud, Meredith Boogaart, Hadleigh Baker, Hannah Baker and Harrison Baker, Ryker Nowlin and Rhett Nowlin; great-great grandchild, Oliver Cloud; two sisters, Faith Jobe and Judy Berry (Ty).

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service. The family requests lasting memorials be made to Arkansas Baptist Homes for Children, The Gideons International or North Tenth Street Baptist Church.
