Anita Sykes Mayerski

Anita Sykes Mayerski, 90, of La Puente, Calif., formerly of Blytheville, passed from this life on Nov. 18, 2022, surrounded by her children.

Anita was the daughter of John Thomas and Mattye Sue (Ball) Sykes and sister of Jimmy, Jerry and Donna Sykes. She was born in Blytheville and raised in Promised Land. She was a graduate of Blytheville High School class of 1949.

Anita moved to California where she and her husband Donald raised their three children in the Los Angeles area. Anita worked for the school district for over 30 years, and she and her family were members of the La Puente Methodist Church for 65 years. She and Donald were married for 62 years until his death in 2020. She never forgot her Arkansas roots and made many return trips to Blytheville to visit family and friends. She even attended her 50th class reunion in 1999.

Anita was a loving mother, a proud Gramma to six, and a follower of Christ. She is loved and missed by many
