Michelle “Shelly” Boyd Decker

Michelle “Shelly” Boyd Decker, 60, of Martinsville, Vir., a former Leachville area resident, passed from this life, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Born in Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Boyd. She was a 1980 graduate of Leachville High School and a graduate of Arkansas State University. Shelly enjoyed competing in pageants and was crowned Miss Arkansas USA in 1984. She went on to follow many endeavors in life and was passionate about them all, from working on cruise ships, to The American Cancer Society and mastering the art of yoga. She was fiercely independent but loyal to those she loved and her favorite place to be was at home with her family and her dog, Joey.

Survivors include her husband Keith Decker of Martinsville, Vir.; son, Sydnor Trent; three daughters, Finley Trent Turner (Tyler), Christina Decker Beaton (Matt) and Elizabeth Decker Howell (Sean); two grandchildren, Eleanor Michelle Turner and Adley Fair Howell; mother, JoAnn Smith Boyd of Manila; brother, John Boyd (Tonya) of Manila; sister, Angie MacFarlane (Mike) of Hot Springs; nieces, Coy MacFarlane and Lilly Boyd; nephews, Braden Boyd and Reid MacFarlane.

A celebration of Shelly’s life and gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, Jan. 7, from 2-4 p.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Jim Branscum delivering a eulogy at 4. The family prefers any memorials be made to The American Cancer Society. Friends may sign the online guest register at www.howardfuneralservice.com.
