Ruby Irene Turney

Ruby Irene Turney, 93, of Manila, passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Manila and raised in the Blackwater community, she was the daughter of the late James and Molly McGhee McClish. Ruby was a 1947 graduate of Blytheville High School and later attended Austin Community College in Austin, Texas, where she earned an associate's degree in real estate finance. Ruby owned and operated J&R Realty in Austin for 16 years and returned to Mississippi County following her retirement in 1999. Ruby enjoyed watching game shows, tending to her vegetable garden and painting pictures. She attended Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church near Monette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Turney; four brothers, Max, Robert, George and Ray; and two sisters, Susie Turner and Ruth Clause.

Survivors include her special friend of 25 years, Ronald Ohama of the home; one brother, Joseph "Buddy" McClish of Jerusalem, Ark.; best friends, Theresa Clark and Chris Melle, both of Austin, Texas, and Natalie Ford of Irving, Texas. She also leaves nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Graveside service was 1 p.m. Thursday at the Caraway Cemetery with Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. The family received visitors from 11a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. Online guest register at www.howardfuneralservice.com
