Bernice Christian, 74, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022. She was surrounded by her sons, grandson, and friends. Ms. Christian was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Osceola. She was the third of 10 children of Herman Christian and Mammie Meeks. She graduated from Rosenwald High School. After 45 years of service with Osceola Hospital as a dietary lead, she retired and continued cooking with love for her family. She enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. Bernice was a devoted mother who loved being around her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and had a passion for mentoring children in the neighborhood.

Ms. Christian was preceded in death by long-time friend, Lee Mitchell; son, Anthony Frazier; three brothers and one sister.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, David Johnson Jr. of Osceola; Ervin Bernard (Jamila Pugh) Mosley, III of Atlanta, Ga., and Joe Carter (bonus son) of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Shirley Williams of Detroit, Mich., Louise (Al) Williams of Claremore, Okla., Ruby Marshall of Saginaw, Mich., and Carolyn Meeks of Claremore, Okla.; one brother, Forest Meeks of Claremore, Okla.; and a host of brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, and friends.

Visitation services will be Thursday, Oct. 20, from 5-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. at New Mt. Pleasant Christian Worship Center in Osceola and burial will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Osceola with Dr. Moses Black officiating. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola is in charge of arrangements.
